Boustead Hill is a hamlet within the Parish of Burgh by Sands with neighbouring villages/hamlets of Longburgh, Thurstonfield, Moorhouse and Burgh by Sands which lies within the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
In 1831 the township 0f Boustead Hill had a population of 63. It is located close to the site where the famous Solway Firth Spaceman photograph, which was taken on 23 May 1964, by Jim Templeton (13 February 1920 – 27 November 2011), a firefighter and local historian from Carlisle. Taking three photographs of his five-year-old daughter while on a day trip to Burgh Marsh.
